UtiliQuest Shines in 2009 International Utility Locate Rodeo
Atlanta, GA - UtiliQuest is proud to announce that several UtiliQuest locate technicians received top awards for their locating knowledge and experience at the 8th Annual International Locate Rodeo and Expo 2009. This year’s competition was held at Kennesaw State University just outside of Atlanta on July 25, 2009. Eric Godinez based out of UtiliQuest’s Oxnard, California office won first place in the power category of the event. Winning second place in the gas category was Roger Bench of the Knoxville, Tennessee office.
The International Locate Rodeo is an opportunity for utility locators across the United States and Canada to come together and compete for the rights to be called the industry’s most accurate locators. The competition consisted of thirty different locators per utility competing in the categories of gas, power, telecom, and water. Each competitor had the task of locating three different sites in order to have varied locating settings and to be able to showcase a diversified skill set.
For years the event has been noted as one of the greatest venues for celebrating the locating industry across the nation. It gives locators and companies a chance to gain insight into new technology as well as promote high quality performance. The competition emphasizes the need to be accurate as well as the importance of continuing to educate and practice industry standards.
